Protection Score

Role: UX Principle Design Lead

Process: Double diamond

Customers: McAfee marketing and CXD

Customer Problem: McAfee needed a differentiator from their competition, specifically on a way to notify their users on the status of their current protections.  The Protection score became a way to riovide a easily glanceable status not only on the protections a user had, but would fluctuate to indicate event that either compromised their score, or increased it depending on user actions.

There was a previous score implemented, but customers rarely used it for the following reasons:

• No direction connection to current accounts

• Score was non actionable (no interactions)

• Design looked like a badge, and not something that was clickable or updated

I explored multiple visual ways of representing the score.  I settle on a few options that allowed the score to expand to show additional data such as the components that made up the score.

To save implementation time, a design was chosen that was essential a enhanced version of the old design.  This way, additional functions could easily be added while retaining the previous code for the code for the older score.

The score was also updated to reflex multi[le protection scores for the user.  Personal score, household, business and other score could now be shown.

The Protection score was then implemented s part of the users Protections Homepage.
